Log In Instructions...

     You will only be able to login at the beginning of each term.  Please see the MSVCC calendar for the starting date of each term. If you experience any difficulties, you should contact the distance learning office at your host college (the college through which you registered) or the 24/7 Support Center at 1-866-361-8969.

The MSVCC has two platforms where online courses are taught.  They are Blackboard and Desire2Learn (D2L).  Please look at your Student Profile to find out which platform your particular course is using. 

To log in to either platform, go to your host colleges website to find the Blackboard or D2L link. Each college issues its own username and password for Blackboard; therefore, you must contact your host college to find out what your Blackboard Username and Password are. 

All students will use a standard username and password convention for logging into D2L.

     Your D2L username is the first letter of your first name (lowercase), your last name (lowercase) and the last four digits of your student identification number.  For example, Joe Doe with a student id number of 012-00-1234 would have a username of jdoe1234.  If your last name includes any hyphens or punctuation, do not include the punctuation in your username.  For example Mary O’Brian would have to leave out the apostrophe in O’Brian. 
-Note: all letters should be lowercase

     Your D2L password is initially set to the same thing as your username discussed above.  As with any password, you should change it once you have logged in.  To change your password, once logged in, you will see a tools menu on the left of your screen.  The last tool is "Personal Information".  From that tool you may change your password, and add (subtract) any personal information you wish to make available.

Log In Problems?

1) Are you accessing the appropriate website for log in? Did you type the web address correctly?
2) Did you type your username and password correctly?
3) Are you using all lowercase for your  your first initial and your last name like jdoe1234?
4) Did you remove any punctuation from your last name?
5) Do you have the last four digits of your student id number correct?  No spaces are allowed between your last name and those four digits when typing in your username.
6) Are you using your current last name?  For example if you registered under Smith-Jones to indicate a maiden and married name, your user id will use smithjones without the hyphen, and no spaces.

If you are still having problems, then the probable cause is that your last name or student id number was entered into the registration screen inaccurately.  You are still enrolled in the class, so don't worry.  Contact your registering college to find out your log in.  All of the information can then be corrected.
